Monkspath Junior and Infant School

Ofsted

Our most recent ofsted inspection took place in January 2026. We were one of the first schools in the country and only the second school in Solihull to be inspected under the significantly updated new ofsted framework.

A team of four Inspectors spent two days looking closely at every aspect of school life, speaking with pupils and staff, visiting lessons, reviewing curriculum plans and exploring our culture, values and safeguarding arrangements. The published report captures the reality of Monkspath with great accuracy, warmth and insight.

A school where children thrive

Inspectors describe Monkspath as “an inclusive and welcoming school” where pupils and staff are “happy to attend such a special place.” They noted the calm, purposeful atmosphere across the school and the way leaders have “created a calm, orderly and welcoming environment where pupils and staff thrive.”

The report highlights the quality of pupils’ wider experiences too – recognising that the school’s ambition for children “is not limited to the classroom”, and praising the rich opportunities, personal development and broader curriculum that are woven into daily school life.

Inspectors report that by the time pupils leave the school, they are well prepared for their next steps. They have the academic foundations, personal skills and positive attitudes they need to succeed in education, training or employment.

Relationships, teaching and the curriculum

The strength of relationships across the school features throughout the report. Inspectors commented that staff “build warm, positive relationships with children from the moment they join Monkspath,” helping them feel safe, confident and ready to learn.

Our curriculum is described as broad, balanced and ambitious. Inspectors found that pupils “make excellent progress through the curriculum as they move through the school,” growing in confidence and resilience as learners and taking pride in their achievements. By the time they leave us, pupils are well prepared for their next steps, with the academic foundations, personal skills and positive attitudes they need.

Leadership, inclusion and values

We are especially proud that inspectors recognised the integrity and values‑driven leadership across the school. They noted that leaders “consistently make decisions that put pupils first” and praised our strong, embedded approach to inclusion. The report highlights timely support, thoughtful adaptations and purposeful use of resources to meet children’s needs, as well as the high‑quality training that underpins our practice.

Putting the results in context

Under the new Ofsted framework, the national picture looks very different to previous years. Outcomes such as “Strong” are achieved by only a minority of primary schools,

What matters most to us is not the single‑word descriptors but the richness of the report itself which reflects the school our pupils experience every day.
