Year 6 River Visit (23rd or 24th March)
To enhance our up-coming ‘River Studies’ topic in Geography, we have arranged to take our Year 6 pupils on a day-visit to Bishops Wood, Stourport-on-Severn. The visit will be led by experts from The Field Studies Council. The FSC (Field Studies Council) is an environmental education charity dedicated to helping children to experience the environment first-hand; to discover, explore and be inspired by the natural world.
As part of their visit, our pupils will get the chance to Investigate a river, looking at how the river channel changes as it travels downstream and how this fits into the water cycle process.
Date of visit:
6CW and 6JL/LD - Monday 23rd March 2026
6NH - Tuesday 24th March 2026
Pupils should be dropped off at school at the usual time and we expect to be back by the end of the normal school day. If the coach is delayed for any reason, a message will be left on the school voicemail.
Requirements for the visit:
- Dress in comfortable, warm clothes appropriate for learning in the outdoors. No uniform required.
- Waterproof coat (and trousers if you have them).
- Outdoor footwear: walking boots, wellies or trainers (dependent on the weather forecast).
- Spare clothing (in case your child gets muddy and needs a cleaner set to travel home in).
- Small rucksack for use during the day, suitable for carrying lunch, spare clothing and stationery.
- A packed lunch
- Drinks to last the day.
The cost of the trip is a ‘voluntary contribution’ of £ 24.55 and can be paid via your ParentPay Account.
If you would like the school to provide a packed lunch at the cost of £3.00, please follow the link below to complete the request form by no later than Friday 27th February. Please make payment via your ParentPay account
Kind regards,
The Year 6 Team
*Voluntary Contributions. The term ‘voluntary contribution’ in relation to school activities is mandatory. Each activity is costed purely at a per pupil rate. Where there are not enough ‘voluntary contributions’ to cover the cost of the activity, it must inevitably be cancelled.
