All things Wild Visit (Reception, 24th June)

Dear Parents/Carers,

On Wednesday 24th June Reception will be going on our school trip. When organising these events, we always endeavour to take account of the interests and needs of the children. This year the children have shown a real interest in animals and dinosaurs so we have decided to visit All Things Wild in Evesham as this will enable us to further exploit their enthusiasm and develop their learning in this area. The trip will also coincide with our Dinosaurs topic so will really help to bring the children’s learning to life!

The day trip will include two education workshops designed specifically for children in the Early years. The first is an `animal encounters` session where the children will learn about some of the animals and even get the opportunity to stroke or hold them. The second session is a palaeontologist session where the children will learn about the formation of fossils and will even get the chance to dig for fossils themselves.

The rest of the day will be spent exploring the zoo, having chance to observe different types of animals that the children may not have seen or even heard of. It will be a great opportunity for them to compare animals, understand their differences and find out where they originate from. We will then use this opportunity back in school as a stimulus for writing, as well as furthering the children’s understanding of the world.

The total cost of the trip is £27.00 per child which includes the entrance cost, workshops and transportation. You will need to pay this via your ParentPay account, where you will also give consent for your child to take part in this visit. Please make sure that this is paid no later than Friday 29th May.

As school dinners are provided for free, a packed lunch containing a sandwich, fruit and snack can be provided by the school kitchen, however, you are more than welcome to supply your own packed lunch that you can tailor to your child’s tastes if you prefer. If you wish the kitchen to supply a packed lunch you must specify this on the attached form. Please send the packed lunch in a named bag if you choose to provide your own.

All children will need to bring re-sealable drink/s regardless of whether they are having a school or home provided packed lunch. Please do not send fizzy drinks, heavy flasks or glass bottles and remember that due to pupil and staff allergies all foods should contain NO NUTS.

The children will wear school uniform on the trip and closer to the date when we are more confident on the weather we will offer further guidance.

As with all trips, we do rely on parental support to help us carry out trips. If you are able to offer your support on this trip (between 8.45am – 3.30pm) please Indicate on the attached form. As always, if we are oversubscribed with adult support we will have to pull names out of the hat. We will notify parents as soon as possible.

Please complete the Parent/helper form/ Packed Lunch request below by Monday 18th May.
